Two Favorite Herbs in One Good Soap

I love my lemon balm in and out of soap, and now, after several years I have the odd plant springing up even in our back yard. Lemon balm smells so delicious-better than lemons! It has a 2000 year history of cultivation and use for many ailments, both internal and external.

Another herb that I am quite addicted to is basil. Lately I have become obsessed with seeing how many varieties I can grow and turn into pesto as well as soap. Basil is another herb with a long history of cultivation and use for all sorts of ailments.

I had to be patient waiting for some infusions of my fresh herbs to mature, and it has paid off! This satisfying batch of bubbles exudes the combined fragrance of lemon and basil, and is made with my two favorite herbs as well as basil and lemongrass essential oils. I never use actual citrus fruits or oils in my soap anymore because my skin decided that it didn't like them at all. To me this soap captures the light of summer and conveys it through it's warm citrus scent.
