Indulging some Passion Vines

My Passiflora incarnata have put on a beautiful rambunctious display this season. I was worried that the garden would be bereft of bumble bees, but when the vines started blooming, the bumble bees arrived in satisfying numbers. Now, the Gulf Fritillary caterpillars are munching away, encapsulating themselves, and emerging as beautiful butterflies! Several ripened fruits have actually been consumed by humans. A seriously herbal soap is in the works, featuring incorporations of the blossoms and fruit. Passiflora incarnata has historically been used as a calming herb, good for the mind and also good for the skin. Unfortunately, there is no such thing available as true Passiflora incarnata essential oil, so my seriously herbal soap will be scented with three essential oils associated with bringing a relaxed and calm mind: Lavender, chamomile and clary sage.
