Candles that I actually like to burn?

I have expressed my loathing of scented petroleum product candles before, and then I thought I could handle soy. To my chagrin, I found soy wax candles to be still unpleasant. I went on a long experiment to see if wick materials made a difference, and they did. I have discovered that I like wood wicks best of all. All of my wax experiments have brought me to the conclusion that beeswax is the best and the most non stinkish candle wax. Isn't beeswax the best for so many things? I wondered if it was possible to use a wood wick in a beeswax candle, and I found out it works quite well! My daughter liked the first little demo candle, and she helped dress it with fresh basil, so it became hers. We used a toilet paper tube for the mold. I woke up today thinking about more candles for various things, so I made a couple using cardboard for their molds. I rather like the unusual finished shapes.

That is a funny title, but I guess that candles are really a necessity for us because they give us that light that we need in order for us to see things in the dark and they are often used in times of emergency. There are designs that we needed to see and I would like to see a candle that can show some design after it is burned.

Truly, I enjoy making candles so much more than using them for light! Candles are commonly used for aroma purposes and religious purposes, as well as in emergency situations or for romantic or relaxational purposes. I have a funny nose. I can smell a dog constantly and not be bothered, but the smell of most burning candles is not pleasant to me, especially most scented varieties. I always find the fuel (which is whatever wax the candle is made from) to mingle unpleasantly with the scent. I have been experimenting for years to find a candle that I can tolerate. I like your idea of constructing a candle so that the melting wax runs and pools in a deliberate design! I think this will take great skill and knowledge.
