Some of the soap in this category is made with ingredients that make it more shapeable and also give extra humectant properties as well as allowing for additions of ingredients that would not survive in soap made in other ways, or that benefit from the addition of solvents to aid dispersal into the soap. Solvents are the ingredients that make a soap translucent and more malleable to re heating and shaping because they have broken the crystal structure that forms naturally during saponification. The solvents that I prefer are sorbitan oleate and propylene glycol. These ingredients have a very good safety profile and have never given me or my family any issues. Every ingredient that is in a soap variety is always listed in its description.
